Today, the band took home the Barclaycard Mercury Prize. The Mercury Prize is given out to the best British album of the past year, as determined by a panel of industry figures, and this year it goes to The xx's self-titled debut. Prentice says - It's so incredibly hard to get your wheels back after a long weekend of having a little more "fun" than you should have. Nonetheless, we are here and our ears are eager for wonderful music. I think that I can help get you back on track. Very rarely, do I enjoy a remix an incredible amount more than the original. When I do though, it's for a very good reason. The reason I am saying this today is because I stumbled on a "Classixx" remix of Phoenix's song "Lisztomania" and I am in love. I kind of cheated because I actually didn't hear it in the shower at random this morning. It was yesterday, but we were in vacation mode yesterday so I am sharing it with you today in hopes that you will forgive me through the love of a wonderful track. Do pick this one up. Adam says - The Sex Pistols have launched their own perfume range. The unisex scent sees the band collaborating with Paris perfume company Etat Libre d'Orange, who have licensed the group's name via their promoter Live Nation Merchandise. The Sex Pistols scent, which comes in packaging based on their 'God Save The Queen' single artwork, is currently available in France. It launches in selected shops in the US on September 10, though it is not clear yet when it will reach the UK.

Andrew says - You know how I know you're.... Nevermind. Coldplay is either a band you love or you hate. I really don't think I have heard anyone say, "Yea I kind dig Coldplay." It's either, "Best band ever!" or "Coldplay sucks. Plain and simple." There is no in between. So for half of you this post will make you happy, the other half, oh well. Yesterday saw the release of Apple's new moneymakers. New iPods galore and all the iOS4 updates you can wrap your credit card around. That being said, no Apple Keynote is complete without some sort of awkward performance by one guy who usually fronts a whole band. So who better than Coldplay crooner, Chris Martin to push us into the new era of iPods. He came out and did a piano ballad of a new song (!!!!!!!) called Wedding Bells. So uh, go buy an iPod? Prentice says - Must I remind you? It's Dance Party Friday, and I will be acting accordingly. No need to tell you that I got started early in my morning shower with a wonderful track from a Saratoga Springs, NY band named Phantogram. The duo creating wonderful electronic music for us to enjoy this glorious day with, Phantogram threw out a very well received album earlier this year entitled Eyelid Movies. Off of that album comes today's amazing shower track, "Mouthful of Diamonds". Dancing is what I will be doing from now until the end of Labor Day. I trust you will start early with me and today's shower track on X1FM!
